That is a huge benefit for choosing Android. I can use this with my friends that have iPhones just the same as my friends with Android phones or feature phones. MightyText will give many users that same feeling. The Chrome extension that I use for Google Voice in my opinion has made it the best application experience among all other Google applications including GMail. MightyText will even notify of missed calls and I was even able to dial out, similar to using Google Voice. They do state that there are no additional charges by using their service. Do keep in mind that carrier charges apply for texting this is not a free alternative to texting like Google Voice or iMessage can be. There was an occasional delay with SMS but most all of everything I sent got to their recipients in moments. From my testing of MightyText, both work well. By opening a tab or web app, one can send and receive SMS or MMS messages. Using that existing phone number, users can sync to MightyText via a Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer 9, or Firefox extension. With MightyText, that long awaited desktop SMS integration has come to Android using your own number. I use Google Voice, but many prefer to use their established cell phone number. Thanks to Google Voice, there is some functionality provided that user is texting from their Google Voice number. The ability to send a text from our browser has been limited. Desktop SMS is nothing new to a lot of enterprise users, but there has been a shortage of support for regular end users like us.
